WMQ v7.5 Performance Improvements

What’s new in WebSphere MQ v7.5:
http://www-01.ibm.com/software/websphere/subscriptionandsupport/compare-mq-versions.html

The interesting part is under “Performance Points of MQ v7.5 vs. MQ v7.1”:

Message throughput increase:
– 40% on AIX, 80% on Linux, 100% on Windows for persistent messages
– 30% on AIX, and between 40-100% on Linux for non-persistent messages (2KB)
– 500% performance improvement for multi-subscriber message delivery

Did someone learn a new programming trick or was there some “not so great code” because those are impressive numbers.

MQ v7.5 on Unix and Windows can support multiple installations on a single OS image

I thought that feature was introduced in WMQ v7.1.

The WebSphere Unconference for Developers–May 1, 2013–is an IBM Impact event where developers like you set the agenda. It’s a different kind of conference that is built around you.

I have submitted a session idea for “WebSphere Unconference for Developers“. I titled it: “Open Source: Universal File Mover for MQ”.

If you would like me to do a presentation on Universal File Mover at the WebSphere Unconference for Developers during Impact 2013 then please vote for it:

Schools are Obsolete

If you live in Ontario Canada, you can’t help but think that the title is correct. If you want to learn about the dysfunction in Ontario’s school system, then just Google (search) it, as I have no interest in writing about the sorry state of affairs. My wife started home-schooling our 5 kids long before the current dysfunction in Ontario’s school system.

I just watched a REALLY good TED talk called: We Need Schools… Not Factories by Sugata Mitra. I strongly suggest EVERYONE watch it. It is the “Winner Of the TED Prize 2013”.
