I have just added a “Registration & Welcome” social on Sunday, September 27th, from 5PM to 8PM. The bar will be open and we will have a nice selection of hors d’oeuvres.
In past years, people have asked if there was anything going on for Sunday night and the answer was always no. So for this year, I have decided to add a social event, so that people can unwind from their flight/travel to Kalahari.

We’re trying something new at MQTC this year and if it goes well it may become a regular event. Let us know what you think by voting and participating in the contest. It’s conceived as a cross between the Birds of a Feather sessions from IMPACT and the slightly more subversive events that take place at Def Con. We’re calling it Bats of a Feather and prizes will be awarded.

IBM Support has posted a bug report that may affect some Universal File Mover (UFM) users.
Title: IT09814: IBM MQ V8.0: Applications cannot get messages that were put to a queue as a group.
Error description:
In IBM MQ v8.0 an application that reads from a queue can fail to get messages that are put to the queue as a group. The failure occurs for new messages put to the queue in a group after the application opens the queue and tries to get messages. If the group of messages is already on the queue when the application tries to read from the queue then the operation succeeds.
This only affects UFM users who are running MQ v8.0 queue managers and if the files they are receiving are larger than 4MB. When a file is larger than 4MB, UFM uses MQ’s message grouping feature. Therefore, for UFM instances running against MQ v8 queue managers, if the entire message group is not available when the get is issued then the problem will appear (only a single message is retrieved and not the entire group of messages).
IBM says this will be fixed in FixPack 8.0.0.4.
