Capitalware Inc. would like to announce the official release of MQ Visual Browse v1.6.1. This is a FREE upgrade for ALL licensed users of MQ Visual Browse. MQ Visual Browse allows users to view messages in a queue of a WebSphere MQ (formally MQSeries) queue manager and presents the data in a simplified format similar to a database utility or spreadsheet program.

Sequoia built by IBM is the World’s Fastest Supercomputer

The world’s fastest supercomputer is the US Department of Energy’s Sequoia system, installed at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Sequoia is an IBM BlueGene/Q system with 1,572,864 cores. Sequoia uses IBM’s 18 core 64bit Power Architecture processor and runs Linux.

The Top500 Supercomputer list has Linux running 457 out of 500 of the world’s fastest computers.

Windows may rule the desktop market and Apple rules the tablet market but Linux rules the supercomputer market. 🙂

Ordered a Raspberry Pi

Woo-hoo. Last night, I finally received my invitation to order a Raspberry Pi.
Raspberry Pi Model B

I ordered the Raspberry Pi model B along with a clear case for it. The only sad thing is that it said “Despatch expected within 9 week(s))”. I have to wait 9 weeks for it to be shipped!! Aaahhhhh. I feel like a kid waiting for XMAS to come. Oh well, time to start planning all the things that I can try out with it. 🙂

For anyone who wants to be on the bleeding edge of technology, WebSphere MQ v7.5 is now available for download from IBM’s Passport Advantage web site.

For those who are counting, WebSphere MQ v7.5 is available 7 months after WebSphere MQ v7.1 was made available. I do not know if this is IBM’s new world order or just a fluke but they should be using more consistent numbering – i.e. 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, etc… Also, when are we going to be see WebSphere MQ for z/OS v7.5?
